The 2020 Landslide
The 2020 Mbetta Landslide: From Isolation to Connection
In 2020, a devastating landslide completely severed the only road leading to Mbetta cutting the community off from the outside world. For residents, it was more than just a roadblock—it meant isolation from essential goods, services, and opportunities.
From Destruction to Determination
The initial damage assessment revealed an overwhelming sight: at Efeumbong, the landslide had carved a wide, deep gully, completely severing the road and making a bridge the only viable solution. Rather than give in to despair, our organization together with the people of Mbetta rose to the challenge with determination. United by a common purpose, we mobilized resources, skills, and sheer willpower to begin the long journey toward reconnecting the community which began in 2021 and ended in 2025.
